Quietfire Guest Designer

We recently moved to Victoria, and I had the chance to finally meet the lovely Suzanne from Quietfire Design! Suzanne has the most beautiful calligraphy stamps that she hand letters herself! Talk about talented! Anyway, Suzanne asked me if I would like to be her guest designer for June, and I said YES! lol How could I resist?

This is the first card I made for the month. More to follow in the next few days!

Isn’t this stamp just gorgeous? It can be found here, and is called A Family is a Circle of Strength. The sentiment was stamped using Archival Sepia. The butterfly is a die cut from Memory Box, and yes, Suzanne does carry Memory Box dies. The circles are die cut with Spellbinders. The inner circle was sponged lightly with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.

Thank you so much for stopping by, and have a wonderful day,

Friday

I am still here!

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that I am still here. It’s been a very busy 6 months. We went away for Christmas, then Peter went away for work on Jan. 3rd, I went to Calgary to watch my gorgeous grandson in Feb. for 7 weeks, went to Victoria for a week, then went to Vernon for a week. Then We both went home and packed!!!!  Peter has been transferred to Victoria! We arrived here on April 28th, and are staying at a hotel until our belongings arrive on the 15th of this month! I just love Vancouver Island and we are going to enjoy living in Victoria so much. It’s amazing that one year ago we were living in Halifax, moved to Montreal for not even a year, and have landed here in Victoria now! From coast to coast….

I had a look online and gathered up some pictures of Victoria to show you. This is such a spectacular city…we are so lucky!

Not Lion….

It was my grandson Zachary’s first birthday last week, and this is the card I made for him. The set is from Inky Antics, and so adorable.

Zachary'sBirthday

The card is long and narrow, just seemed to look better this way. The image was stamped with Momento Tuxedo Black, then coloured in with Copic Markers. I then cut him out, and stamped an extra tail, coloured that and layered it on top of the lion. Then I used Nestibilities to do some layering. I thought it was a cute 1st birthday card.

I do have a picture to share of Zachary eating his birthday cake!! lol Now tell me he isn’t a little sweetheart. I really miss this little guy!

Zachary's First Birthday!

Thank you for stopping by and have a great day,

Thursday

After my house…Tagtime at Stampotique

Aftermyhouse

This tag was made using the Stampotique Great Moon, Spiderweb, and sentiment from Dylusions by Dyan Reaveley. I just love her sentiments, some and quirky, some are fun…she also has some more serious sets. I started by cutting the tag with the Tim Holtz Tag die template. Then I spread distress stains on my teflon sheet and sprayed with a bit of water, then smooshed (not a word, I know..lol) the tag through it a few times until I had the look I wanted. I dried it with a heat gun, and then distressed the edges. The moon and sentiment were both stamped on patterned paper, cut out, then distressed. I ran the ribbon through the same ink I had leftover from the tag, wrinkled it into a ball, then dried with my heat gun. You have to be a bit careful doing this…it can start smoking pretty fast, and I am thinking it could start on fire if you aren’t careful. In the end I did put a tiny touch of yellow Stickles on the star.

Thank you for stopping by,

Kim

Wednesday

Remember When…

Hi there,

I have been doing a bit of stamping lately. I have a card to share with you today. My card is using all Stampsmith stamps.

StampsmithShirley

The main image is a photo stamp of Shirley Temple. The sentiment is from the Say It Like It Is plate. You can find them both here at The Stampsmith website. I started by stamping Shirley on white glossy c/s, then using Phototwin markers, I coloured in her shirt and her lips. I then distressed the photo, and all the layers. I used flower dies from MFT to do the rolled flowers, and a Martha Stewart punch for the ferns. Oh, and the card shape was done with the Grand Labels 1. The background paper is from the new Webster’s Pages line called Western Romance. I actually bought the whole pack of 25 because it’s so gorgeous, then I can use it and not hoard it! lol

Thank you so much for stopping by, and have a great day,

Hugs,

Kim

Naughty is the new Nice!

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share a tag I made this evening. It was so fun to get all inky and messy! I used a huge amount of Glimmer Mists and Distress Inks on a piece of white cardstock, that was run through an embossing folder, to create the background. Then I used 2 stamps from Viva Las Vegastamps! The woman image, Lady with Fan, as well as the sentiment, Naughty is the new nice. Both are stamped with Ancient Page coal black ink, then distressed. After this was done I sprayed some lace, ribbon, and ribbon flowers with more glimmer mists, then adhered to the tag. I decided to cut the sentiment apart so I could use a part of it on top and at the bottom of the tag.

The background of this tag shimmers like you would not believe. I know you can’t tell in the photo though.

Thank you for stopping by,

Kim
